Hack and Climb: Hidden “Cheats” and Tips
- The Momentum Glitch: If you hack a terminal while mid-dash, your character occasionally keeps their horizontal speed throughout the entire animation. This “hack-boost” is currently a favorite trick for speedrunners to skip large sections of the Neon Spires.
- Wall-Jump Refresh: You can reset your double-jump by successfully completing a “Quick-Hack” on any flying drone. This allows you to stay in the air indefinitely if you time your hacks correctly.
- Sound Cues: Listen for a high-pitched “ping” when near a wall. This indicates a hidden server room is behind that specific texture, which usually contains a permanent speed upgrade or a cosmetic skin.
Hack and Climb: Where to Find the The Master Keys
In Hack and Climb, the “Master Keys” are hidden data chips that unlock the Secret Archives and the ultimate character skin. Here is where you can find the three keys in World 1:
1. The Ventilation Shaft Key
During the third level, “The Ascent,” you will reach a section with three rotating laser grids. Instead of climbing the main yellow pipes to the right, look for a small, flickering vent cover on the far left wall. Dash through the vent to find a hidden room. The Master Key is floating behind a breakable glass partition.
2. The Under-Bridge Secret
In the level “Neon Bypass,” you will cross a massive bridge while drones attack you from above. Before you reach the end of the bridge, drop off the ledge near the second support pillar. Use your wall-slide to find a small platform tucked underneath the bridge’s framework. The key is guarded by a single high-speed security bot.
3. The Server Room Ceiling
In the final level of World 1, “The Core,” you will enter a room filled with server racks and blue data streams. Once you clear the enemies, look directly up at the center of the ceiling. There is a small opening hidden by the hanging wires. You must perform a perfect wall-jump off the corner servers to reach the crawlspace where the final Master Key is hidden.
Hack and Climb: Locate the Master Keys in World 2
In World 2 of Hack and Climb, the difficulty spikes significantly. The verticality of the “Sky-scraper District” makes these keys much harder to reach without precise timing.
1. The Sky-Crane Counterweight
In the level “Lifting Shadows,” you will reach a section with massive moving cranes. When the second crane moves to its highest point, do not jump forward to the next building. Instead, drop onto the yellow counterweight at the back of the crane. As it descends, look for a small gap in the building’s scaffolding. The Master Key is tucked inside a crate marked with a blue neon “X.”
2. The Hologram Buffer
During “Digital Skyline,” you will navigate a series of flickering holographic platforms. In the middle of the stage, there is a giant circular hologram of a corporate logo. Most players jump around it, but if you dash directly through the center of the logo when it flickers out for a split second, you will enter a hidden data-stream. Ride the stream upward to grab the second key.
3. The Billboard Backdoor
In the final stretch of World 2, “The Glass Horizon,” you’ll encounter a wall of giant electronic billboards. Look for the one displaying a “Security Alert” in red. You must wall-jump behind the billboard’s physical frame. There is a very narrow walkway behind the screen. Follow it to the far right, past the sparking wires, to find the final Master Key of the world.
Hack and Climb: Locate the Archives Terminal in World 2
In Hack and Climb, the Archives Terminal is tucked away in a secret sub-area of the final level in World 2, “The Glass Horizon.” You must have all six Master Keys in your inventory for the terminal to recognize your clearance.
Archives Terminal Location
Once you reach the final elevator bank (just before the level exit), do not step inside. Instead, look for a small maintenance hatch located directly behind the elevator shaft.
- Drop down the small gap between the elevator and the back wall.
- Use your wall-slide to control your descent until you see a blue-lit doorway.
- Inside this room, you will find the terminal. Interact with it to deposit your keys and unlock the Prototype Skin.
Coordinates (Debug View)
If you have the developer console open (~), you can toggle the pos_display 1 command to see your exact location. The terminal is located at:
- X: 442.1
- Y: -118.5
- Z: 12.0
Terminal Interactions
- Data Retrieval: Accessing the terminal also unlocks a hidden lore entry about the “Kodachi Virus.”
- Skin Equip: Once unlocked, the Prototype Skin appears in your Customization menu. It provides a unique neon-white trail that makes tracking your character much easier during high-speed parkour.
Hack and Climb: Console Commands
In Hack and Climb, the developer console is primarily a tool for performance monitoring and minor visual adjustments. Since the game relies on physics-driven momentum, the developers have kept “game-breaking” cheats disabled to preserve the integrity of the global leaderboards.
To open the console on PC, press the tilde (~) or F1 key.
Movement & Mechanics Troubleshooting
| Command | Effect |
map_reload | Instantly resets the current level. This is much faster than using the menu if you mess up a “Key” run. |
phys_debug 1 | Displays the physics hitboxes for your weapon. Use this to see exactly why an axe-throw or spear-thrust failed to connect. |
set_timescale [0.1-1.0] | Slows down the game speed. Note: Using this will usually flag your run as “Modified” and prevent leaderboard submission. |
Visual & Technical Commands
cl_showfps 1: Enables the FPS counter in the top corner.r_gamma [value]: Adjusts the brightness. In the “Hologram Buffer” sections of World 2, setting this to2.5can make the flickering platforms much easier to see.ui_hide: Removes all on-screen HUD elements. This is the “Photo Mode” command for capturing clean screenshots of the Skyline levels.r_bloom 0: Disables the neon glow effect. If the Sky-scraper District’s lighting is causing lag or eye strain, this command significantly clears up the image.
Unlocking the “Prototype” Skin
While there isn’t a console command to simply “give” the skin, you can verify your Master Key progress via the console:
list_keys: Shows which Master Keys you have currently collected in the active world.unlock_archives: If you have all 6 Master Keys (3 from World 1 and 3 from World 2), this command forces the Archives Terminal to open if it fails to trigger automatically.
