While Silt (the surreal underwater adventure by Spiral Circus) does not have traditional “cheat codes” like those found in retro games, you can use certain strategies, gameplay secrets, and achievement-based goals to master the abyss.
Silt; Gameplay Secrets & Mechanics
- The Possession Mechanic: Since you play as a diver who can possess sea life, the key to “cheating” difficult puzzles is knowing which creature to use:
- Piranhas: Use them to bite through thick ropes and chains.
- Hammerheads: Essential for breaking cracked walls or heavy machinery.
- Electric Eels: Used to power up ancient generators or stun larger threats.
- Crabs: Their armored shells can block lasers or crushing traps.
- Hidden Divers: There are four “lost divers” hidden throughout the game. Finding and possessing all of them unlocks the “Find Yourself” achievement/trophy and provides deeper lore.
Silt: The “Immortal” Achievement Strategy
The hardest challenge in Silt is the Immortal achievement (completing the game without dying).
- Save Scumming (PC/PS5): Many players “cheat” the permadeath mechanic by manually backing up their save file to the cloud or a USB drive after every boss fight. If you die, simply download your old save to continue your “no death” run.
- Shaking Leeches: If you get swarmed by leeches, move your joystick rapidly back and forth. If you shake off 10 at once, you’ll unlock the “Get Off Me!” achievement.
Silt Achievement / Trophy “Shortcuts”
If you are looking for specific goals to 100% the game, focus on these unique interactions:
- Predator: Possess a creature and eat another fish.
- Prey: While possessing a small fish, allow yourself to be eaten by a larger one.
- Masochist: This is a secret achievement. To get it, you must possess a creature and then use it to attack your own diver body.
- Toxic: Possess a poisoned fish and then let a predator eat you.
Silt Console Commands (PC Only)
There is no officially supported developer console for players in the public build of Silt. Unlike games like Subnautica or Fallout, the ~ tilde key typically does not open a menu here. Most players use Cheat Engine tables if they want to modify values like swim speed or oxygen (though oxygen is not a mechanic you need to worry about in Silt).
About Silt
Silt drags you under into surreal puzzle-adventure, atmospheric horror, exploration indie, underwater platformer, and dark fantasy. Control a lone diver who hijacks freaky sea beasts to crack environmental brain-teasers in a stark, monochrome void. Next, skirt colossal horrors while piecing together forgotten lore. Furthermore, hand-sketched visuals amplify crushing solitude. Thus, its bite-sized runtime packs Limbo-like dread. Consequently, Spiral Circus crafts this haunting Indie stunner, primed for mobile chills too.
